By Correspondent

DIMAPUR, June 16 - The Nagaland unit of BJP has urged the central party leadership in Delhi to expedite the Naga peace process and resolve the long-pending Indo-Naga political issue.

Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton and State BJP president and Higher and Technical Education Minister Temjen Imna Along, accompanied by State BJP legislators, made the appeal to BJP national general secretary in-charge of North East Ram Madhav when they called on him in New Delhi on Saturday, media cell of Pattons office said in a release on Sunday.

During the meeting, the State BJP leaders also highlighted various developmental issues needed to be taken up in the State. They also stressed the need to further strengthen the party in the North East in general and Nagaland in particular.

Ram Madhav assured to take all positive steps towards the issues raised by the State party leaders, the release said.

In another development on Sunday, the NSCN (IM) accused the Indian army of moving from village to village near its central headquarters, Hebron, and resorting to frisking and asking annoying questions to the villagers on its members.

The reckless approach of the Indian army on the lookout for NSCN members reminds us of the pre-ceasefire period that we abhor to look back, the outfit said in a release.

The release alleged the Indian army has become too judgemental towards NSCN and is creating unpleasant scenario. This is not compatible with the present ceasefire arrangement between the Government of India and NSCN, it said.

The outfit said its sincere desire is for peace and not conflict of any sort. It appealed for building a peaceful and lasting political solution.

Meanwhile, the Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) on Sunday expressed gratitude to all churches in Nagaland for ringing of bells/chimes to commemorate the 10th year of the signing of the Covenant of Reconciliation on June 13, testifying to the world that Nagas and non-Nagas in Nagaland want peace and reconciliation to prevail.

All the churches across Nagaland, at the request of FNR, also prayed for peace and Naga reconciliation on Sunday.

The Covenant of Reconciliation was signed by all the top Naga political groups on June 13, 2009, under the banner of FNR.

Joining the 10th anniversary of signing of the agreement, the Naga Hoho acknowledged the struggle of FNR members in leading the Naga people towards the path of reconciliation among the rival Naga groups.
