Nagaland BJP reaffirms ties with PDA

By CORRESPONDENT

DIMAPUR, March 9 - Against the backdrop of new developments in Nagaland politics, the State BJP unit today reaffirmed its resolve to strengthen the ruling Peoples Democratic Alliance (PDA) for completion of the full-term of the alliance government.

The PDA cannot be affected by the desperate moves of any political party or individual in attempting to disrupt the firm alliance, State BJPs chief spokesperson Kuputo Shohe said in a release.

The State BJP unit alleged that rumours were spread that the PDA Government would not last long. But the PDA has completed a full year in office and the Nagaland BJP will continue to uphold the pre-poll alliance, the release added.

Endorsing the PDA leadership, the State BJP appreciated the partner of the alliance, Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), for the smooth sailing so far.

Mentioning the letter by 18 Opposition Naga Peoples Front (NPF) legislators to the Leader of Opposition, TR Zeliang, proposing to tie up with the NDPP, the State BJP clarified that its coalition partner, NDPP, has issued a clarification reaffirming the pre-poll alliance with the BJP. The NDPP has resolved to restrengthen the PDA, the release said.

The State BJP also reaffirmed its commitment towards its pre-poll alliance partner and appreciated the political maturity and statesmanship shown by the NDPP under the astute leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio.

The State BJP president, Temjen Imna Along, and other office-bearers also reposed their trust in the leadership of Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton and other party legislators in taking the right decision collectively in the event of any untoward scenario befalling the PDA Government.
