DIMAPUR, March 20 - Nagaland BJP unit has said that the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) president K Therie was venting out his desperation after the party�s �grand� losses across the country and in North East.
Hitting back at Therie for his claim that NPF-BJP rule was a threat to Nagas, the State BJP reminded him that his desperate attempt for the party prospects in the next Assembly election would not make �any dent,�
BJP unit general secretary (Media) and spokesperson Jaangsillung Gonmei, in a press statement, reminded the Congress that its �escapist method� in criticising BJP by shielding its weakness, non-secularism, corruption and misrule would not work anymore while stating that Therie�s rhetoric was another failed Congress trick.
The BJP also accused the Congress of portraying itself as secular during elections only to get voters, after which it has become �sickular� or non-secular.
The BJP unit taunted Congress� claim of not having political alliance with religious fundamentalist groups and professes to be secular, but takes sides and gets involved with non-secular fundamentalism, when opportunity arises.
It was for these reasons, it said, former Congress Prime Ministers Rajiv Gandhi permitted Shilanyas in Ayodhya and Narashima Rao permitted demolition of Babri Masjid. Not only this, prominent Congress leaders such as Jagdish Tytler, Sajjan Kumar and HKL Bhagat have been implicated in the violence of 1984. Congress party workers and leaders across religious lines also figured in reports on Bombay riots of 1992-93, Gujarat violence of 2002 and Muzaffarnagar violence of 2013, the BJP stated.
It also claimed that incidents of communal violence recorded highest when Congress-led UPA Government was in power.
Also hitting out at Therie over his claim that churches would become empty if BJP and NPF were allowed to rule for another five years, the BJP reminded him that political parties do not spoil religions, culture, traditions, etc. It also asserted that religion was a private matter.
On the Naga political issue, the State BJP reminded Therie that what the Congress Government could not do in 50 years, the BJP did in eight months.
The BJP unit also reminded NPCC president that so far, since it was introduced in 1982, only losers complained about EVMs.
