Nagaland BJP denies move to form new Govt with NPF

By CORRESPONDENT

DIMAPUR, Oct 2 - The Nagaland BJP unit has rubbished the report that it is planning to forge an alliance with the Opposition Naga Peoples Front (NPF) to form a new Government in the State.

Denouncing a news item circulating in a section of print and electronic media speculating that some senior party members led by Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton would form such an alliance, State BJP chief spokesperson Kuput Shohe today said that such irresponsible reports might impact law and order in the State under the present circumstances. In a release, the State BJP unit categorically stated it works solely on the directives of the partys central leaders, and that issues relating to alliances were the concern of the central high command in Delhi.

The current Peoples Democratic Alliance (PDA) Government has been maintaining transparency and accountability, the release added and asked all news agencies to maintain their credibility by proper authentication before publishing such news reports.

It reaffirmed the statement made by the BJP national general secretary in charge of the North East, Ram Madhav, that the pre-poll agreement with the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party was a gentlemanly one and hence, the ruling PDA was still strong.

On Tuesday, Patton dismissed reports circulating on the social media that he, along with former Chief Minister and current Leader of Opposition TR Zeliang, had met the collective leadership of the NSCN-IM at Camp Hebron for a possible change of guard in the State.
