DIMAPUR, May 26 The Nagaland unit of BJP celebrated the first anniversary of NDA rule in India under Prime Minister Narendra Modi here with BJP general secretary in-charge of North-east Ram Madhav highlighting the achievements of Modi government in the last one year.
Madhav said Modis government had improved the economic condition of the country, even overtaking the growth of China. He said this was not the case one year earlier when the countrys economy was in a pathetic state.
He said Modis government has achieved more than any other previous Prime Ministers in 12 months and transformed the mood of the whole country from despair to hope to optimism.
Under Modi and BJP, people are now in safe hands. This is what we have achieved in the last 12 months, Madhav said at a press conference here.
He described the present government at the Centre as the cleanest government India has had in the last 40 years. He said no government has been subjected to such scrutiny before.
This government is not just corruption free but also incorruptible because it is led by Modi who is simply incorruptible, he stated.
Madhav further said New Delhi has given special importance to the North-east region for development and that it is very keen not only to solve the Indo-Naga political dialogue but also on development issues.
On the all-party government in Nagaland in which sworn enemies BJP and Congress are partners, Madhav made it clear that the party still stood by the earlier statement made by its president Amit Shah during his visit to Nagaland that there was no possibility of BJP and Congress coming under the same roof.
He reiterated that though there was no question of BJP and Congress going together under the same banner yet since Congress legislators in the NPF-led DAN Government has been suspended by their high command, BJP would wait and watch.
On the Naga political issue, he said the Modi led NDA Government was serious about a solution acceptable to all, in a time bound manner.
Madhav also said his partys main focus is to bring an end to the Congress political culture thus freeing the country from corruption. He said Nagaland is the third State after Andhra Pradesh and New Delhi to have a Congress-free party and lauded the NPF-led DAN Government for achieving this feat successfully.
Meanwhile, NPF vice president TL Merry, who spoke on behalf of NPF Central, extolled the NDA Government at the Centre on the successful completion of one year in office under the leadership of Modi, the media cell of the party said.
Merry said though NPF had gone through a turbulent time in the past months the storm had settled and expressed hope that with the support of the NDA Government, the situation in Nagaland would improve.
Merry said the NPFs objective of uniting all parties under one banner was achieved and that once the suspended Congress legislators were disqualified, both NPF and BJP would benefit and simultaneously strengthen DAN.
State BJP unit president Dr Chuba Ao, BJP general secretary in-charge of Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh Prashant Arora and BJP Nagaland general secretary and spokesperson James Vizo among others were in attendance.
