KOHIMA, April 1 (PTI) - Nagaland has imposed a ban on poultry imports from Murshidabad district of West Bengal in view of recent outbreak of bird flu there.
Chief Secretary Lalthara said in a notification issued yesterday that the government had imposed the ban as a preventive measure and it would continue till further notice.
This is the second ban, after the first one was lifted in September last year.
Murshidabad district Animal Husbandry Deputy Director Kamdev Sardar said today that about two lakh birds had been culled in two blocks during January and February this year.
Presently, the district is free from bird flu, but the authority is yet to get a certificate to this effect from the Centre, he said.
