Naga unity pre-requisite for lasting solution

By Correspondent

DIMAPUR, Aug 13 Greeting the people on the occasion of Naga Independence Day on Aug 14, NNC/FGN Kedahge Brig (retd) S Singnya has reaffirmed the stand on the Covenant of Reconciliation signed by himself along with Isak Chishi Swu and SS Khaplang based on the historical and political rights of the Nagas and to have a meeting at the highest level.

In his message, the NNC/FGN leader asserted that unity of the Nagas is pre-requisite towards finding a permanent solution to the Indo-Naga political issue. Only Nagas under a single political umbrella and speaking one voice can carry weight and command respect, he stressed, adding that any solution sans unity of the Nagas will prove to be a historical blunder. Nagas must not repeat but learn from history, he said.

He also reiterated that, towards this end, the GPRN/NSCN and the NNC/FGN had agreed to an unconditional unity on July 15 at Monyakshu to chart a common destiny.

The NNC/FGN leader also paid homage to the Father of the Nation AZ Phizo and the pioneers for their far sighted vision and leadership in nurturing the Naga Cause and also the martyrs who have made the supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation.

In her message sent from London on Naga Independence Day, NNC president Adinno Phizo said nothing can falter the resolve of NNC and FGN to honour ancestors unbowed legacy handed down from one generation to another.

The Naga people will continue to meet the national challenges ahead, and if necessary, willing to sacrifice to ensure ancestors baton of freedom is handed to the coming generations.
