Nabajyoti emerge champions

GUWAHATI, April 13 � Nabajyoti Club A team emerged champions in the Santipur Athletic Club organised Arun Das and Raismodi Nunisa Memorial Trophy Santipur Challenge Cricket Tournament.

In a one-sided final played at the Nehru Stadium here today, Nabajyoti trounced Bud Cricket Club by a huge margin of 74 runs.

The match was reduced to 30 overs due to bad outfield. Nabajyoti, opting to bat first, gathered a commendable total of 182 and bundled out the opponent for 108.

Man-of-the-match Kon Urang took four Bud wickets giving away just five runs in 5.5 overs. Dhiraj Goswami tried to build the Bud innings with a strokeful 54 but he did not get any support from other batsmen.

Nishanta Bordoloi was adjudged best player of the tournament. In the closing function, Assam Cricket Association secretary Bikash Baruah, Santipur AC�s president ABM Yunus and ACA joint secretary Bishnuram Nunisa were present as guests. They also gave away the trophies to the teams and individuals.
