Naamghar Samannayrakhi Sabha meet held

JORHAT, May 11 � In the presence of representatives of more than 60 naamghars, noted educationists and practitioners of Vishnavite culture and traditions of Jorhat district, the second biennial session of the Namghar Samannayrakhi Sabha was held recently at the Srimanta Sankar Mandir near Thana Road in Jorhat with various programmes that included naamprasanaga, discussions for promoting Mahapurusiya culture, literature and the feeling of brotherhood among castes and creeds.

With the consensus of the representatives, a new executive committee was formed. A press release stated that the Sabha also decided to follow a constitution with specified guidelines to maintain smooth coordination among the representatives of naamghars of the district, besides doing its promotional activities for culture and traditions propagated by Srimanta Sankardev and Srimanta Madhabdev.

The new executive committee is headed by president Mukul Chaliha (former principal of JB College). Udhab Chandra Kakoty, Phanidhar Hazarika and Gopal Dutta were included as working president, secretary general and organising secretary respectively in the newly-constituted executive committee.
