TURA, May 24 - The alleged arrest of Sohan D Shira, commander-in-chief of the Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) is still shrouded in mystery despite all indications pointing to the fact that the Bangladeshi authorities may have nabbed him in Mymesing district in the country.
While a police source had earlier stated that the elusive GNLA C-in-C had a close encounter with the police in South Garo Hills, indicating that the arrested individual in Bangladesh may not actually be Sohan, other sources have stated just the opposite. The Bangladeshi authorities have added to the mystery by keeping mum on the issue.
According to an intelligence source, a photo of Sohan was sent to Bangladesh to help them identify him, but authorities there said that the faces do not match. They, however, did not make any photo of the caught cadre available to us.
