IMPHAL, Jan 16 � Pangal Political Forum (PPF), an influential Muslim organisation in Manipur has demanded the Centre to give compensation to the victims of communal clash of 1993 between the dominant Meteis and Manipuri Muslims in line with the compensation paid to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
�The 1984 anti-Sikh riots victims have been compensated with money by the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre. We demand that the Government pay compensation to the Meitei-Muslim communal riot victims too,� PPF spokesperson MI Khan told journalists at the Press Club here recently.
He said 140 Meitei Pangals (Muslims) were killed and 25 others injured in the clash that took place more than two decades ago and demanded the Manipur Government to recommend the Centre to compensate the next of kin and the survivors of the carnage.
