Musical, interactive event with Kula Barua, Anima Choudhury

GUWAHATI, Nov 21 - Socio-cultural organisation Jyotirupa today organised a musical evening as well as an interactive session with acclaimed Assamese singer and music director Kula Barua and prominent Assamese singer Anima Choudhury at the Lakhiram Barua Sadan, Ambari.

During the event, the artistes talked about their journey into the world of music. The present scenario of Assamese music world and changing taste of music among the younger generation also featured in the discussion.

Actor and advocate Dilip Hazarika initiated the discussion while cultural activist Roman Sarma conducted the event.

Earlier, Minati Choudhury, executive president of Jyotirupa, felicitated both Kula Barua and Anima Choudhury.

A number of artistes presented a few timeless songs by Barua and Choudhury on the occasion. Karubar Dunoyon was presented by Prashanta Rajkhowa, while Rupan Bhuyan sang Ji Jaak Soraye Uri Gusi Jai. On the other hand, Gayatri Hazarika presented Anima Choudhury�s Bhabisilo Likhu Buli Sithi Tumaloi.

This apart, several well-known and budding singers, including Rubul Kalita, Kritanjali Goswami, Rengoni Das and Meghdeep Deuri, presented different songs during the event.

The citations presented to the singers were read out by Jyotirupa vice president Dilip Barua.

Earlier, general secretary Naren Hazarika welcomed the guests.
