Musical evening by Assam Rifles at TU

BISWANATH CHARIALI, May 19 � Assam Rifles jawans swapped guns for guitars to jazz up the evening with a gala patriotic musical evening with a gala patriotic musical show at Tezpur University on Saturday.

The Lokra-based Assam Rifles battalion under the aegis of Chindits Brigade organised a unique patriotic musical evening at Tezpur University. The focus of this beautiful evening was to get the youth into the mainstream by reaching out to them with value products on patriotism through music.

The sound of bagpipers, drums blending with guitar, piano playing the mesmerizing tune of patriotic songs touched the hearts of the people of all age groups, crossing the barriers of religion, caste and region. The unique musical event for the first time was played for the local populace.

The pride and sense of belonging to the country was awakened by the event. Approximately, 2,000 youths of all age groups witnessed this magnificent blend of instruments with the punch of patriotic vocals.

This great effort by the Chindits Brigade and Assam Rifles band crossed all bridges. The youths appreciated and thanked the officers of the Assam Rifles for such an event. Keeping in mind the overwhelming response by the university staff, the band will perform such events in various other villages/towns within Sonitpur district shortly. Tezpur University reverberated with the musical strains of bagpipers, Assam Rifles jazz bands and the orchestra as the audience sat enthralled.

Among civil dignitaries, Dr Amarjyoti Choudhury, Professor and Pro Vice Chancellor, Tezpur University, Rajen Borthakur, MLA, Tezpur, Pankaj Borah, Assistant Director of Sports, Tezpur University, and Prof DC Baruah, Dean, Students� Welfare, Tezpur University, were present in the musical evening.
