Murkongselek-Dibrugarh passenger train flagged off

DHEMAJI, Oct 15 - A passenger train between Murkongselek (Dhemaji) and Dibrugarh, was inaugurated by the Union Minister of Railways Piyush Goyal from New Delhi by remote control on Tuesday.

With the minister�s inauguration of the train, the Divisional Railway Manager of Rangiya division, Vidyasagar Abhinash Malegaonkar accompanied by senior-most Railway Pointsman Pokeswar Mili and other railway department officials ceremonially flagged off the train service at Murkongselek station at around 3 pm. Operation of a passenger train between Murkongselek and Dibrugarh via Bogibeel bridge was a pending demand of the local people as many people of the region regularly go to Dibrugarh for medical, educational and commercial purposes every day.

The passenger train scheduled to start from Murkongselek station near Ruksin town (East Siang) of Arunachal Pradesh at 8.45 am is to reach Dibrugarh at around 12.15 noon. The new train service along the BG route will run all days of the week and return in the afternoon.

The train is equipped with 19 bogies including first class and general class coaches.

The local people also demanded the NF railway authority for operation of a Rajdhani train connecting Murkongselek and bordering eastern Arunachal Pradesh district and New Delhi on a regular basis.
