GUWAHATI, Jan 27 � A 30-year-old arrested on charges of murder on January 25 by Noonmati police died today under mysterious conditions while he was in police custody.
Abu Taleb was arrested from Dalgaon in connection with Noonmati police station case number 26/2015 under section 379, 120(B) /302 IPC on January 25. He was produced before the court on January 26 where he was remanded to ten days police custody.
Police said Abu Taleb complained of stomach pain and breathlessness today after which he was shifted to Guwahati Medical College and Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
DCP (Central) Amitava Sinha said that guidelines of the National Human Rights Commission on such deaths in police custody are being strictly followed and that inquest by an executive magistrate, post-mortem by a panel doctors, videography of post-mortem examination have been done.
