DIBRUGARH, April 29 - In the wake of the bomb blast in Tinsukia town yesterday and following sporadic incidents of violence in the district recently, the State Government today ordered engagement of 40 members of Quick Response Team, 1 Platoon of Commandos, 9 columns of Army and 13 police officers (one DSP and 12 SI and ASIs) to maintain law and order in the district, Forest and Environment Minister Atuwa Munda said.
Munda, after visiting the bomb blast victims at AMCH here today, further said that the district administration of Tinsukia had taken a decision today to instal CCTV at all vulnerable areas in the town.
Expressing solidarity with the victims of Tinsukia bomb blast, the Forest and Environment Minister assured all medical assistance to the injured. He asked the medical authorities to deliver all required medical care to the victims free of cost. Munda also distributed Rs 10,000 cash to all the victims at the medical institute.
Altogether, 11 persons, including two females are undergoing treatment at the Assam Medical College and Hospital. The injured include Hemanta Gohain (16), Parag Borthakur (34), Reja Ul Haque (36), Suraj Ram (40), Bubheswar Sah (60), Nidhi Ajit Sariah (16), Subham Verma (21), Manoj Mahato (50), Denis Pegu (17), Suresh Prasad (50) and 14- month-old infant Swati Kumari.
Fortunately, the condition of all those hospitalised are stable, Munda was told by the attending doctors.
Condemning the bomb blast, Munda said that the State Government will go all out to nab the perpetrators of the crime and all anti-social elements who have been disturbing peace in the State. �We already have five battalions for law and order and four battalions for operations in Tinsukia district. Additional deployment in the district will surely help in dousing the turmoil in the district,� he said.
Our Tinsukia Correspondent adds: In the meantime, Upper Assam DIG Bishnu Pd Rabha visited Tinsukia today to take stock of the situation following yesterday�s bomb blast.
He stated that ulfa was presently in a very feeble position and that is why it had targeted innocent people in an effort to make its presence felt. However, as the security forces are on full alert, the general people need not be unduly worried, he added.
Further, the Tinsukia incident is nothing but a retaliation against the killing of ULFA member Rongmon@Mekuri by the security forces on April 27 last, he justified.
