By Correspondent

DIMAPUR, Aug 8 - Dimapur will have a multi-media-cum-convention centre near the Dimapur Railway Station. The project sanctioned by the North Eastern Council (NEC) is based on a 90:10 fund sharing pattern between the Council and the Nagaland Government respectively.

According to the Nagaland Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), the total cost of the project is likely to be around Rs 10 crore and has a completion time frame of three years. Once completed, the three-storeyed building will have a conference room, an auditorium and a multi-media centre for media personnel, besides the office of the Dimapur District Public Relations Officer.

The centre is being built by demolishing the District Public Relations Officers office located near the Dimapur Railway Station.

On the progress of works, DIPR Director Limawati Ao said the construction of the media centre started towards the end of 2017, and that the completion of the project was subject to timely release of funds.

He said in April-May this year, the NEC asked the project to be put on hold till it reviewed the funding pattern and payment modes of NEC projects in general.
