GOALPARA, June 14: What may seem to be the tip of an iceberg of a multi-crore scam in the Department of Health, several cases of appointments made fraudulently and dishonestly in the grade IV staff position have been detected in several districts, by the scrutiny committee constituted by the department concerned.
According to reliable sources, surprisingly 81 cases of such fake appointments have been detected in the grade-IV staff in the Department of Health, Goalpara alone.
During the course of their preliminary verification, it came to the fore that fake appointment letters were issued since 2005 onwards. Sources said more such cases are likely to be detected if enquiry is done into the appointments in the grade III staff also.
