IMPHAL, July 16 � Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Mukul Wasnik said the Centre is examining the Manipur Government recommendations to formulate a Disability law of the country.
�We are examining the recommendation made by the State consultation meetings�, Minister Wasnik, who was here on a two- day visit, said.
The two-day State consultation meeting on rights of persons with Disabilities held here in March this year had unanimously resolved to urge the authority to guarantee equality and non discrimination to all persons with disabilities.
�Steps are being taken to appoint a State Commissioner for the persons with disabilities within a short period of time�.
Terming that his visit to the State was a periodical review visit, he hoped that such visits will be able to fill up the gaps between the State and Central Government in implementing their programmes.
Later, he called on State Governor Gurbachan Jagat and Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh separately.
