Mukul leaves for Delhi to finalise ministry

By Raju Das

SHILLONG, April 21 At least 39 legislators from the Meghalaya United Alliance (MPA) coalition government are waiting with bated breath for a Cabinet berth out of the eight seats left available.

Chief Minster Mukul Sangma has left for the Union capital to seek the approval of Congress president, Sonia Gandhi for the members of his Council of Ministry. He after being sworn in yesterday refused to throw light on the new Cabinet composition.

Besides Sangma, Bindo M Lanong, JA Lyngdoh of the United Democratic Party and Abu Taher Mondol, an Independent, were sworn in as cabinet ministers on Tuesday.

Already there are murmurs of discontentment, especially amongst the Congress legislators who feel that Mondol should not have been picked in the Cabinet as the demand was to drop Mondol and two other Independents Limison Sangma and Ismail Marak and Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Party president, Paul Lyngdoh.
