Mukhi urges youths to stay away from tobacco

GUWAHATI, May 30 - Governor Professor Jagdish Mukhi, on the eve of World No Tobacco Day to be observed on May 31, has urged everybody, especially the youths, to see the brighter side of life and abstain from tobacco consumption in any form.

In a statement here on Saturday, the Governor said that this year the World No Tobacco Day � which is being observed on the theme �Protecting youth from industry manipulation and preventing them from tobacco and nicotine use� � is very apt and laid stress on adequate awareness about the negative impact of tobacco on human health.

Professor Mukhi said that the young people should be guided with the requisite knowledge so that they can differentiate between good and bad. The youth should be empowered to lead a healthy life and contribute to the growth of the nation.

The Governor further said, �I call upon the youth to get yourselves engaged in yoga, meditation and different forms of physical exercise to motivate yourselves to love your body and health and stay away from tobacco products.�
