Mukhi calls upon GU to face challenges of changing times

JALUKBARI, July 25 - Professor Jagdish Mukhi, Governor of Assam and also the Chancellor of Gauhati University (GU), today called for improving the work culture of the people of Assam for fast-track development of the region.

He was addressing a meeting attended by the teachers, officers, employees and students of the University in the GU premises.

He called upon the University fraternity to gear up to face the challenges of the changing times and said efforts must be made to make it one of the best institutions of the country.

The Chancellor appreciated the development of infrastructure and availability of resources at the University and hoped that all this will be used to the fullest extent to reap the benefits.

Stating that skill development is an important component along with education and training, he urged the University�s teaching community to instill the spirit of competitiveness in the minds of students. He also pointed out that the Act East Policy of the Central government will open up a lot of employment avenues.

The meeting was attended by GU Vice Chancellor Dr Mridul Hazarika, GU Registrar Suresh Kumar Nath, and a host of other dignitaries. He also visited the GU Aquaculture and Biodiversity Park and the departments of Chemistry and Commerce.
