Mukesh wins Indian Oil Masters Golf

DIGBOI, Sept 29 � The four- day IndianOil XtraPremimum Masters Golf Tournament held in the Digboi Golf Course here came to an end today.

Mukesh Kumar of Mhow carded a steady even-par-71 to emerge triumphant on the final day to ease him a two-stroke win of the title. The 47-year-old veteran ended up with a tournament total of 11-under-273. Mukesh (67-69-66-71), the overnight leader, dropped a bogey on the first for the fourth day in succession. He came roaring back with a fabulous seven-iron tee shot on the fourth that ended up one foot from the flag and led to a birdie. Mukesh produced another magical moment when he drove the green on the par-4 14th hole that helped him garner his second birdie of the day. The Mhow-based golfer held on to his lead till the end despite the bogey on the 18th to bag his sixth IndianOil XtraPremium Masters title. This also happened to be his 12th win on the PGTI, the maximum by any golfer on the tour.

Harendra Gupta (69-67-68-71) was the runner-up as he finished two strokes behind Mukesh. Harendra Gupta of Chandigarh was the runner-up with a total score of nine-under-275.Gupta�s final round of 71 included a birdie and a bogey. Vishal Singh (67-65-72-72) of Jaipur claimed third place after he finished with an overall score of eight-under-276. Vishal�s final round featured two birdies and three bogeys.

Shamim Khan of Delhi finished tied 10th at one-under-283 and thus climbed from second to first position on the 2012 Rolex Rankings.
