GUWAHATI, March 14 � Additional Director General of Police, Mukesh Agarwala today took charge as Commissioner of Police of Guwahati city. He was asked to take charge as City Police Commissioner Jyotirmoy Chakraborty has gone abroad for training.
Talking to The Assam Tribune after taking charge, Agarwala said as the post of City Police Commissioner cannot remain vacant, he was asked to take over immediately after Chakraborty left for the training.
Agarwala said he had discussions with senior police officials and the immediate priority would be to check crime against property. He said of late growing crimes like theft and dacoity have become a serious cause of concern and in the days to come, checking the same would be the main priority.
