Mukalmua, Tihu, Howraghat inaugurated

NALBARI, Feb 28 - Minister for Revenue and Disaster Management, Dr Bhumidhar Barman formally inaugurated two newly-declared sub-divisions, namely Mukalmua and Tihu in two separate functions held at Barkshetri Development Block and Tihu Revenue Circle here today.

In the first programme held at 11 am, Dr Barman formally cut the ribbon of the new Mukalmua civil sub-division. Addressing a meeting held on the occasion, Dr Barman said that the new sub-division will usher in development in the area.

He further informed that the Barkshetri area is also included in the proposed smart city project. He added that an amount of Rs 50 crore has been sanctioned for infrastructure development of Mukalmua sub-division.

The inaugural meeting which was presided over by Dr Om Prakash Choudhry, Deputy Commissioner of Nalbari, was addressed among others by Mahtab Uddin Ahmed, Commissioner of Lower Assam Division.

Similarly, Tihu sub-division was inaugurated at another function held at 3 pm at Tihu Revenue Circle campus.

In Howraghat: The Howraghat civil sub-division was officially inaugurated today in the presence of a huge gathering representing different communities of entire Howraghat legislative Assembly constituency.

The much-awaited civil sub-division was inaugurated by State HAD Minister Kharsing Engti, who was accompanied by the CEM of KAAC, Tuliram Ronghang, Deputy Commissioner Mukul Gogoi, Superintendent of Police Debojit Deory, Parliamentary Secretary to the Government of Assam, Dr Mansing Rongpi, besides EMs of KAAC, including senior departmental officers.

Jyotirmai Daimary took charge as the Civil SDO, while he will function temporarily from the PWD multi-storied inspection bungalow.

It may be mentioned here that eight autonomous constituencies, namely Howraghat, Langpher, Langhin, Mahamaya, Karkhanti, Namati, Phulani and Rongbongwe will remain under Howraghat sub-division. There are around 1.21 lakh voters in Howraghat legislative Assembly constituency, according to the 2001 census.

A ceremonial inaugural function was held at the office premises of the new Civil SDO office. Addressing the public present, Kharsing Engti thanked Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi for fulfilling the long-standing demand of the people of Howraghat. He said that the Chief Minister was trying his utmost to resolve the different problems of the people of Karbi Anglong.

Meanwhile, Engti urged all sections of the people to cooperate with the Government. Tuliram Ronghang also admired the Chief Minister for the steps taken for all-round development for the hill district. He also thanked HAD Minister Kharsing Engti. He said that Engti was focusing on resolving all the problems plaguing the residents and gradually leading the district towards holistic development.

Meanwhile, the new Civil SDO sought public support for smooth functioning of all Government activities. The inaugural function was also addressed by Dr Mansing Rongpi, Parliamentary Secretary to the Government of Assam.
