Mrinmoy bags bronze in nat�l chess

GUWAHATI, Sept 12 - Emerging chess talent Mrinmoy Rajkhowa of Assam secured 3rd position in the 31st National U-7 Chess Championship held at Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh from September 3 to 12.

Mrinmoy who has an international rating of 1188 was seeded 7th in the tournament which had a total of 192 players.

With this performance, Mrinmoy has booked his berth in the Indian team for the Asian U-8 and World U-8 Chess Championship to be held next year. Mrinmoy has been undergoing chess training at Assam Chess Club under the guidance of Nandan Buragohain, Y Dhanabir Singh and Biswajit Bharadwaj since 2014, stated a release.
