MP appeal to State DGP

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Nov 20 Member of Parliament (MP) and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Ramen Deka has urged the Director General of Assam Police to take special security measures to ensure security and safety of the people of Chaparbari under Mazbat Police Station in Udalguri district, where militants of anti-talk faction of the NDFB killed three persons recently.

I have seen the anguish of the people. The Hindi-speaking and Nepali people are feeling insecure after the massacre. It is the bounden duty of the Government, particularly police force to ensure safety of the lives and property of the citizens, stated Ramen Deka in a memorandum issued to the DGP.

Referring to Yagyapur and Chaparbari villages, the MP informed that the road communication is bad and that the situation gets worse during rainy season.

It is not possible for Mazbat Police Station to cover those areas. The people of these areas have been demanding time and again to establish an outpost at least at Yagyapur, which is a genuine demand, the memorandum stated.

Deka further urged the Government to keep an army camp at Chaparbari. He also had a discussion with the Deputy Commissioner, Udalguri.
