IMPHAL, March 20 - Local residents have opposed the Manipur Government�s move to open quarantine facilities at schools located in the vicinity of the Imphal airport.
Five quarantine facilities and four isolation facilities have been identified in Imphal West district for prevention of the potential spread of COVID-19. These quarantine facilities are HRD Academy, Ghari Awang Leikai, Imphal Valley Academy, Ghari Makha Leikai, UNACCO School, Meitram Makha Leikai, Herbert School, Changangei Uchekon, and Extra Edge School, Ghari Awang Leikai.
The isolation facilities identified in the district are Shija Hospital and Research Centre, Raj Medicity, Imphal Hospital and Research Centre and Sky Hospital.
Meanwhile, denouncing the opening of the quarantine facilities, women of Ghari locality today staged a demonstration, alleging that the five schools identified as quarantine centres are located in thickly-populated areas.
