Move to observe Kalam�s death anniversary

GUWAHATI, July 25 - Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has asked the Deputy Commissioners and Sub-divisional Officers (Civil) to draw up elaborate programmes to commemorate the first death anniversary of former President of India and Bharat Ratna Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, which falls on July 27.

The Chief Minister asked the DCs and SDOs to select suitable venues like District Library, community halls to conduct public meeting involving senior citizens, students, civil society, socio-cultural organisations and people from all sections of society to pay tributes and to perpetuate the hallowed memory of Dr Kalam.

The Chief Minister stressed on observing the death anniversary of Dr Kalam by touching on subjects close to his heart, such as national security, nation building, Vision 2020 and his immeasurable contributions in inspiring the new generation.
