Move to improve facilities at rly stations

GUWAHATI, Aug 18 � In order to improve train services and passenger amenities both on board and at stations, a slew of measures would be taken by the Northeast Frontier Railway authority.

Keshav Chandra, general manager, NFR along with all other principal heads of the department inspected the station premises recently with an aim to improve the existing facility.

Some of the steps that are likely to be taken include widening of the foot over bridge (East side) with the separate staircase for entry and exit and provision of an escalator.

Development of base kitchen with modular stalls and modern food plaza making availability of all types of hygienic and tasty food items, installation of electronic billing machine in all catering stalls in station area, besides provision of modular drinking water booth in all platforms has also been prioritize by the department.

The general manager has also instructed to take steps to improve the parking area to match international standard. The parking lot is also expected to have modern access control system.

The general manager has instructed all departments concerned to work on aforesaid proposals urgently and execute them at the earliest.
