GUWAHATI, Aug 11 � The body of mountaineer Ravindra Lal Das was laid to rest at the Nabagrah crematorium here today.
Ravindra Lal was a member of the city based Explorers� team and he died on August 7 during an expedition to the Kashmir Himalayas.
Hailing from the city, Ravindra Lal was a senior member of the team but unfortunately breathed his last due to lack of oxygen. His body was flown in to the city today and was taken to the RG Baruah Sports Complex before his last rites.
The 40-year old mountaineer was a junior engineer of PWD and leaves behind his wife and a daughter.
His untimely death has been mourned by the sporting fraternity of the State. The Directorate of Sports and Youth Welfare also condoled the death of Ravindra Lal.
