Motivational camp for school dropouts in Goalpara

GOALPARA, March 4 - To safeguard those children who have never been enrolled in schools, dropouts and those lagging behind in terms of grade specific competencies and potential to being dropout, Ajagar Social Circle, an NGO, has been working on a project titled �Assam State Initiative�Education� under the Lakhipur and Balijana educational block in Goalpara district.

The intervention which will be implemented effectively in government schools, Kasturba Gandhi Bikas Vidalaya (KGBV) and Residential Special Training Centres (RSTCs) where the objective is to enroll and provide 70 dropout students back to school.

Meanwhile, the NGO has identified the said number of students and has successfully conducted recently three motivational camps of duration of 15 days at Hatisila BNMV School, Hatigaon HS School and Raikona MV School respectively where the students were motivated to join schools.

The secretary of Ajagar Social Circle, Ashok Nath said that these camps are held to encourage the students into developing an interest in going to schools through the medium of activities such as games, craft work, puppet making, origami, music and others. He also said that after these camps the education facilitators, recruited for the project, would provide remedial support to the required students along with these identified children in their respective enrolled schools and also informed that the main objective of the project is to lay the foundation of numerical and literacy competence among the children.

To encourage the children, Benny George from TATA Trusts, Mumbai visited the Raikona camp where he encouraged the children towards games designed for the children. Kandarpa Kalita from CML-TATA Trusts along with president of Ajagar Social Circle, Prabin Das also visited the Hatisila camp where they had a lively interaction with the children. Bhabesh Bharali from SSA, Goalpara also visited the motivational camp in Hatigaon H.S School where he encouraged the students to join schools and strive to be an educated and wise person for a better tomorrow.
