GUWAHATI, May 11 - Mother�s Day, a day for people to show appreciation towards mothers and motherhood, was celebrated in various places in the city.
At Ayursundra Hospital: Ayursundra Superspecialty Hospital located in Garchuk, today celebrated Mother�s Day along with all the mothers who were treated and discharged from the hospital in the past, stated a press release.
As a part of the event, a free health camp was organised for all the mothers who took part in the celebration. Doctors also educated the people present about basic health requirements that mothers with newborn babies should keep in check.
At SOS Children�s Village: The worldwide SOS community, including the SOS Children's Village Guwahati, celebrated Mother�s Day on May 10 to recognise the selfless contribution of SOS mothers for children in need of care and protection, stated a press release.
On May 9, children of SOS Children�s Village presented a colourful cultural event. On May 10, SOS mothers garlanded the bust of the SOS movement�s founder father Dr Hermann Gmeiner. Manju Baruah of Azara, who was the chief guest, congratulated the SOS mothers for their efforts to shape the future of their children, and presented sarees to all the mothers at the function.
On the occasion, all the mothers went for an outing to a resort and later to the Ganesh Mandir at the Nazirakhat archeological site, followed by lunch at a popular dhaba. After the outing, the mothers were welcomed back at the SOS village by children with flowers and arati. The evening ended with a patriotic movie.
