Mothers body urges govt to tackle corruption

By Newmai News

DIMAPUR, Aug 23 Irked by scams and problems plaguing the Education department, the Naga Mothers Association (NMA) has urged the Government of Nagaland to prove its commitment to the future of our children by taking decisive steps in the matter.

In a press communiqu issued by its president and secretary Abei Meru and Lochumbeni Humtsoe, the NMA said it is deeply concerned with the serious issue of bogus teachers, fake certificates of teachers and bogus appointment orders in the Department of School Education. Teachers are highly respected in our society because they are the moulders and builders of our nation. But the rate of corrupt practices that exist in the State education system is mind boggling as per the report of the Special Investigation Team of the State Vigilance Commission, the communiqu said.

The mothers body, urged the State Government and the State Cabinet to immediately terminate all those found guilty, irrespective of connections, tribe or otherwise, and penalise all wrongdoers as per the law. It also urged the government to address the grievances of genuine teachers and avoid confrontations.

The NMA further informed that an emergency meeting of its Education Committee is being convened on August 25 to discuss the report of the Vigilance SIT on Bogus Teachers and related matters.
