DIBRUGARH, Nov 6 - A 30-year-old mother and her two children were found dead in a rented house near New High School in Naharkatia town in Dibrugarh district yesterday evening.
The mother, identified as Mary Tirkey, was found hanging in a noose, while the two children were lying dead under a blanket on a bed. The scene was first noticed reportedly by the younger brother of Bijoy Tirkey, the husband. The husband is an English teacher of a nearby school.
It is speculated that the mother poisoned the children before she hanged herself. However, police has not come to any conclusion yet. The three bodies were brought to the Assam Medical College and Hospital here today for post-mortem. The eldest child was seven years old, while the youngest one was only a year old. According to the neighbours, deceased Mary Tirkey had a quarrel with her husband early in the morning over some monetary issue.
