AIZAWL, April 9 - Prime suspect in the hit-and-run accident that killed a woman and her one-year-old daughter in Thenzawl on Sunday afternoon has been arrested, police said.
The woman and her one-year-old daughter instantly died as they were apparently run over by a vehicle around 3.30 pm on Sunday on the outskirts of Thenzawl in Serchhip district.
There was no eyewitness to the incident except for two other small kids of the woman, who survived unharmed.
Later in the night, the police apprehended a suspected truck and its driver, whose name has not been disclosed.
The woman was living on the outskirts of Thenzawl with her three small kids, after her husband died. After a post-mortem examination, her body and that of her child will be brought to her home village of Ngur in Champhai district in eastern Mizoram.
