GUWAHATI, July 18 - Karbi Anglong Morning Star Football Club confirmed their berth in the final of the Assam State Premier League (ASPL). The Diphu team defeated Trinayanjyoti Football Club of Chabua, Dibrugarh by an aggregate of 4-2 in two semifinal matches.
In the second leg match at Chabua today, Morning Star beat the home team 2-1. Earlier, they won the home match 2-0 at Diphu on July 15. It was an entertaining match at Chabua today as after the barren first session, leading scorer of the championship with 22 goals till today�s match, Orok Orok Essien opened the account for the winning team in the 67th minute.
But their jubilation was short-lived as Sunday Ogar Ayuk drew parity in the 77th minute. However, Jelendra Brahma fired home in the 80th minute to seal the issue for the Diphu team. In the last semifinal match, return leg, FC Green Valley will lock horns with Baarhooangkha AC at Kokrajhar tomorrow. FC Green Valley is leading 3-1 with their home match victory here on July 16.
