Morigaon gears up for TAC polls

MORIGAON, July 27 - The Morigaon district administration has geared up for the smooth conduct of the forthcoming Tiwa Autonomous Council (TAC) elections to be held on August 19 next.

The Deputy Commissioner (In-charge), Morigaon Pranjit Gogoi today convened an all-party meeting at the Deputy Commissioner�s office here and appealed to all concerned to strictly abide by the Model Code of Conduct.

The 30-member Tiwa Autonomous Council has 19 seats in Morigaon while 11 seats are in Nagaon district. The last date of filing of nomination papers is July 29. The scrutiny of the nomination papers will take place on July 30 while July 31 is the last date for withdrawal of nomination papers.

Meanwhile, the district administration, Morigaon has divided the district into four zones where four zonal magistrates will look into all election-related matters. So far, no nomination paper has been filed.
