Morigaon freedom fighters� statues to adorn DC court premises

MORIGAON, Sept 8 - The statues of three freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives in the Quit India Movement in 1942 in Morigaon district, will be installed at the Morigaon Deputy Commissioner�s court premises on September 18.

The three swahids of the Indian freedom struggle of Morigaon district namely� Hemo Ram Pator, Gunavi Ram Bordoloi and Tilak Deka are still remembered and to immortalise their heroic role in the freedom struggle, �Sahai�, a socio-cultural organisation has taken up the scheme to install the statues of the trio at the Morigaon DC court.

Chief Minister Assam Sarbananda Sonowal will formally unveil the statues on September 18. The Chief Minister will also confer the newly-introduced �Brahmaputra Upatyaka Samaj Hitaishi Bota� to noted social worker and author Dayal Krishna Bora on that day at the Morigaon District library auditorium. The Sahai organisation has introduced the award from this year which carries Rs 1 lakh and a citation. The Chief Minister will also release a souvenir on the occasion, added a press release.
