Morigaon Dist Admin gears up for Assembly polls

Morigaon, Mar 1: Morigaon district administration has geared up its machinery for the free and fair Assembly poll in three Assembly constituencies namely Jagiroad, Morigaon and Laghorighat, the polling of which will be held on April 1 next in the second phase.

Addressing a press conference, Morigaon DC Leena Das yesterday said that a total of 6,14,261 voters of the district will exercise their franchise in forthcoming Assembly polls in the district. The Jagiroad (SC reserved) seat has 2 lakh 37 thousands 457 voters, out of which, male voters are 1,20,219 while female voters are 1,17,220.

In Morigaon, there are 1,91,048 out of which 94,725 are male while 96,313 are female.

In Lahorighat LAC, there are 1,85,756 voters out of which 96,356 are male and 89,386 are female, Das added.

For smooth running of poll, 316 polling stations and 41 auxiliary polling stations will be set up in Jagiroad while in a total of 256 polling station and 29 auxiliary polling stations will be installed in Morigaon constituency. In Lahorighat, a total of 240 polling stations along with 20 auxiliary polling stations will be set up, the DC informed .
