Morigaon admin gears up for Namami Brahmaputra fest

JAGIROAD, March 26 - The Deputy Commissioner of Morigaon, Hemen Das today announced the events of the five-day Namami Brahmaputra festival, which will be begin from March 31 at Hatimuria, Hiloikhunda, Mayong under the Jagiroad LAC in Morigaon district.

At a press conference held at the Mayong Anchalik College, the DC highlighted the five-day programmes of the festival. He stated that a total of 40 exhibition stalls of various government departments, besides some sales counters of local food items, especially vegetables, fishes, curd, etc., would be set up on the festival site. An attractive event � Mayabi Mayong in which the history, ancient civilisation, culture and a photo gallery of magic, �gohain-uliuwa,� etc., of Mayong � will also be included in the programme.

Student, youth and women meets, Morigaon District Inter-College Yuva Mahotsav, exhibition of ethnic culture, inauguration of souvenir, cultural functions, etc., will feature in the festival, he added.

The SP of Morigaon highlighted the security arrangements for the ensuing festival. Among others who were present in the press conference were ASP of Morigaon Dr Rubul Gogoi, District Election Officer Sukannya Bora, and CO, Mayong, Sanghamitra Baruah.
