More than 1 lakh tests in Manipur so far

IMPHAL, Aug 14 - The total number of COVID-19 tests conducted in Manipur reached more than one lakh today, as per the latest update of the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) on COVID-19.

Till date the total test results for COVID-19 received stand at 1,10,026, while the cumulative number of persons screened at various entry points of the state is 3,30,766, the IDSP report said.

Meanwhile, the COVID-19 common control room here stated in a press release: �Today, there is no report of death. The cumulative number of deaths is 13.�

It may be noted that the first COVID-19 case in Manipur was reported on March 24, while the first death due to the viral infection occurred on July 29.

As many as 71 civilians and 15 Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, the release added. Thirteen among the civilians are returnees from other States and the rest 59 are local residents without any significant travel history.

The new cases were confirmed at the VRDLs of the RIMS, JNIMS and other testing facilities. The infected persons hail from Churachandpur, Thoubal, Imphal West, Imphal East, Bishnupur, Noney, Kakching and Ukhrul districts. They are being shifted to COVID Care Centres.

In the past 24 hours, 65 persons were also discharged from the RIMS and other COVID Care Centres at Meitram, Thoubal, District Hospital, Thoubal, Kakching and Noney following their recovery. The total COVID-19 caseload in Manipur has now reached 4,198, while the total number of discharged cases stands at 2,360. The number of active cases is 1,825 including 758 CAPF personnel. The recovery rate is 56.21 per cent.
