JORABAT, March 28 - The Amri Karbi Autonomous Demand Movement Committee (AKADMC) has also joined the protest against the governments move to set up an Assam Rifles (AR) camp in Sonapur, threatening a more vigorous form of agitation in the days to come.

A press release issued by AKADMC today stated that the government is indulging in a conspiracy to uproot the tribal people from Dimoria by setting up a number military camps on land occupied by tribals.

The committee also condemned the Sonapur Circle Officers act of issuing a no objection letter regarding setting up of the camp at Domorapathar village in Sonapur vide letter no.- spr/assamrifles/35/2011/pt/75-58(a), without conducting any public hearing.

A large number of people here alleged that no public hearing was held to know the opinions of the local or tribal people, who strongly oppose the move to take away their agricultural cum residential lands of the tribal belt area.

The AKADMC has demanded an immediate stop to the move to set up the AR camp in the tribal belt region and threatened to launch a vigorous agitation if the government fails to address their demand.

The AKADMC also announced that if necessary, it would file a PIL in the Gauhati High Court opposing the governments move.
