More relaxation allowed for economic activity

GUWAHATI, May 5 - In a fresh order, the State government today announced more relaxations for economic activity, allowing the supply chain to work even during the night curfew hours. The order issued by the Chief Secretary stated that all industries and their supply chain are allowed to operate at all times.

Tea industries, warehouses, all activities related to PDS operation, FCI warehouses, railways, LPG and petroleum delivery services can operate at all times.

Though e-commerce delivery is allowed between 6 am and 6 pm, their backend activities and personnel can work at all times.

Supply chain activities related to essential services like milk, fish and other perishables have been permitted at all times.

Conservancy services by municipal bodies have been also exempted from the night curfew.

Private offices in malls can open during day time, the order said.

Shops in market complexes are allowed to operate with two shops closed between two open. However, grocery, pharmacies and medical establishments in the complexes can open on all days during the permitted hours.

All shops in rural areas, except for malls are allowed to remain open without any distinction of essential or non-essential services.

All types of goods carrying vehicles are allowed to operate at all times.

All construction activities including highway construction, flood control works are also allowed at all times.

Bank employees are allowed to move beyond 6 pm depending on necessity.

Large standalone shops are allowed to open with limited entrants.

�However, despite the exemptions, the workers in such activities will have to follow social distancing norms,� the order said, adding that the exemptions are not allowed in containment zones.
