DIBRUGARH, Jan 3 - In consonance with the Centre�s effort to provide LPG connections to every BPL household under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY), the district here is also determined to bring every household under the extended PMUY coverage, said Kaushik Pratim Sarma, the District Nodal Officer of Indian Oil Corporation Limited.
Sarma while addressing newsmen here said that as many as 81435 numbers of PMUY connections were issued in the district as against a target of 67454 on the basis of Socio Economic Caste Census list and seven identified categories such as SC/STs, beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) (Gramin), Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY), Forest Dwellers, Most Backward Classes, Tea & ex-Tea Garden tribes and people residing in islands. Buoyed with the achievement, Sarma said that the district has also launched the expanded Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana � 2 as per the recent Cabinet�s decision to provide LPG connections to revised 8 crore households in the country following achievement of 6 crore household as on January 2, 2019 as against the target of 5 crore household by March 31, 2019.
Under the expanded Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana � 2, free LPG connections will be issued to poor families, who were not getting considered earlier on account of their names not appearing either in Socio Economic Caste Census list or the seven identified aforesaid categories. Sarma explained the modalities for issuing connections under the expanded Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana � 2 like submitting proof of identity and proof of address, saving bank account details, copy of ration card and 14-point declaration for establishing �poor� status among others.�
