More arms, ammunition seized in Kokrajhar district

KOKRAJHAR, Dec 5 - More arms and ammunition was recovered in the run-up to the BTC polls at Soraibil area in Ripu Reserve Forest near India-Bhutan border in Kokrajhar district last night.

The recovered weapons and ammunition included two AK-56 rifles with magazines, two handmade AK-56 rifles, six muzzle loaded pipe guns, seven 7.65 mm pistols, 26 magazines of 7.65 mm pistol, three country-made pistols, five grenades, three country-made bottle bombs and several rounds of ammunition of different caliber.

Kokrajhar Superintendent of Police Rakesh Roashan said the arms and ammunition were found buried in a thickly forested area.

Based on specific information received from sources and inputs shared by the Sector HQ of SSB, Chaprakata, Bongaigaon, a joint operation was carried out in the area last night, and the arms and ammunition were recovered, the SP said.
