Monsoon covers most parts of North East

GUWAHATI, June 16 - The Southwest Monsoon on Sunday advanced further, covering most parts of the North East region of the country, and entered the remaining parts of the northeast Bay of Bengal, some more parts of northwest Bay of Bengal and north Bengal and Sikkim as well.

The Regional Meteorology Centre (RMC), Guwahati on Sunday said in a press release on advancement of the Southwest Monsoon and monsoon activities over North East, that the Southwest Monsoon was normal over Arunachal Pradesh and Assam-Meghalaya Meteorological Sub-divisions in the past 24 hours, while it was found to be weak over Nagaland-Manipur-Mizoram-Tripura Meteorological Sub-division during the same period.

It stated further that during the same period, rainfall activities were widespread over Arunachal Pradesh and Assam-Meghalaya Meteorological Sub-divisions, while such activities were fairly widespread over Nagaland-Manipur-Mizoram-Tripura Meteorological Sub-division during the same period.

The Northern Limit of the Monsoon is now passing through Goalpara, Alipurduar, Gangtok, Mangaluru, Mysuru, Salem and Cuddalore, said the RMC.
