BARPETA, Nov 15 - An amount of Rs 1 lakh, consisting of notes of 500 and 1000 denominations, was looted from a customer inside the Central Bank of India branch here who had come to deposit the money in his account.
The customer Ramani Pathak of Bahari in Barpeta district was writing the deposit slip while keeping the amount on his lap when a miscreants snatched the money and fled the scene. Pathak said that the money was meant for his sister-in-law, who is undergoing treatment in a hospital in Chennai. It was urgent to deposit it today itself. Meanwhile, the culprit has been identified from the CCTV footage and police has launched a manhunt to nab him.
