Money credited to accounts of tea garden labourers in Udalguri district

UDALGURI, Jan 5 - In order to boost the economic standards of the tea garden workers community in Assam, the Government of Assam too has started a unique policy christened �Chah Bagicha Dhan Purashakar Mela� in the tea estate areas of the State. As part of the Union Government�s policy of demonetisation, this initiative was undertaken in three tea estates of Udalguri district to create awareness among the tea garden labourers and to get them direct benefit under the banking system.

An awareness programme to this effect was held at Chandana Tea Estate on January 4 which was attended by Rihon Daimari, PHE Minister of Assam, Dilip Kumar Das, Deputy Commissioner and Additional DC Bhaskar Jyoti Manta and Navaprakash Borah, manager of the tea estate where the first installment of amount of Rs 2500 out of Rs 5000 each was credited to the bank accounts of the tea garden labourers as per the promises made by the State Government recently.

In the same way, financial grants were distributed among the tea garden labourers of Ambika Tea Estate near Panery in Udalguri district in the presence of Kamali Basumatary, MLA of Panery LAC, Dithakananda Hazarika, SDO (Civil) of Bhergaon subdivision and the branch manager of the UCO Bank of Khoirabari branch and the manager of the Ambika Tea Estate where financial grants to be credited to the labourers� bank accounts of the tea garden labourers of Dhansiri TE were distributed by Shyam Sundi, Executive Member of BTC, Dwimalu Basumatary, Block Development Officer of Mazbat block among many others. This was stated in a press note issued by the District Information and Public Relations Officer of Udalguri district.
