BONGAIGAON, May 29 - Local residents of Gang Quarter area in New Bongaigaon accosted a youth Habizul Rahman (28) after he attempted to molest an aged woman and handed him over him to police at the New Bongaigaon Patrol Post recently.
Reports said that the accused accosted the victim from behind while she was returning home after carrying meal for her husband near New Bongaigaon Railway Station. Habizul allegedly gagged her mouth from behind before pinning her down and tried to molest her. But the victim somehow overpowered the molester and managed to escape. When she informed the local residents of Gang Quarter, they followed Habizul and caught him.
Meanwhile, the victim has lodged an FIR at New Bongaigaon Patrol Post against Habizul, who is the son of Ainal Haque of Bhawlaguri in new Bongaigaon area.
Another woman of the locality alleged that Habizul made a similar attempt on her a week ago and already two girls of the nearby village had become the victim of his evil intentions.
